Get to know the interns at PFT

Internships are a key part of the college experience, giving students the opportunity to gain real-world work experience and learn from experts in their chosen field. Parallel Flight Technologies is proud to offer a robust college internship program that provides extensive hands-on experience in drone integration and testing, all in a fast-paced startup environment. Meet Noah and Steven, two local engineering students who are sharing what they’ve learned through their internships at PFT.

Noah Perez

Noah Perez is an aerospace engineering student who joined Parallel Flight as a college intern in September 2020. As a senior at San Jose State University, Noah pursued this internship to hone his skills and gain additional engineering experience prior to his graduation.

"I've really enjoyed being able to work alongside and learn from a brilliant set of people, helping them to reach goals that are critical to our success," he says.

One of his favorite projects so far has been designing our gimbal mounting mechanism for the beta aircraft. He says it has helped him understand certain aspects of the manufacturing process, as well as learn about and apply vibration isolation techniques. Noah says this internship has helped reinforce his rapid prototyping skills and taught him how to anticipate manufacturability within the computer aided design process. He looks forward to graduating and starting his career as an aerospace engineer.

I will take away a wealth of knowledge from my position as an intern at PFT.

Steven Silverglate

Steven Silverglate was a summer intern at PFT before starting his senior year at San Diego State University, where he is an aerospace engineering major. When his fall classes were shifted from in-person to online learning, Steven returned home to the Santa Cruz area and resumed his internship at Parallel Flight.

"I learn something new every day here," he says. "I really enjoy the culture and all of the opportunities for hands-on learning and strategic problem solving."

During his internship, Steven has focused on testing, research and development, and aircraft assembly. He helped to convert the prototype drone into "The Big Mule," PFT's all-electric test drone. He enjoys working on a variety of projects and likes that this internship has enabled him to gain a variety of new skills. Steven says that the biggest takeaway he's gotten from his time at Parallel Flight is that he truly loves aerospace engineering, and he looks forward to his future career in the industry.

There are endless things to learn in this industry because the technology evolves so rapidly.
