Our Journey

The Beginning
After several founding team members’ homes and livelihoods are threatened by catastrophic wildfires in the Santa Cruz mountains, Parallel Flight Technologies is founded in response to the global wildfire crisis.
The team begins fundamental research with Parallel Hybrid Propulsion architecture.

Proof of Concept
The first working prototype of flagship aircraft, Firefly, is validated.
A company first, the team secures a NASA SBIR to develop a proprietary safety system.

Prototype
A flying prototype hits the skies for the first time.
The team secures additional SBIR’s from NSF to develop initial simulation technology and USDA to investigate large scale prescribed burn technology.

Beta Aircraft
System level analysis produces a subscale Beta Aircraft. Test flights begin.

Production Intent
Extensive propulsion reliability testing and aircraft flight testing prepare for customer demonstrations.
USDA Phase 2 SBIR awarded to support demonstration of large scale prescribed fire.

Product Sample
Rigorous reliability and flight testing turns into an improved production intent Firefly.
Initial aircraft pre-orders received.

Looking Forward
117 + test flights completed this year.
1845+ hours tested on PHEM modules.
